September

September 7, 2023

Already September, I’m ready for fall.
It’s time for a cold front, I pray it won’t stall.
It’s time for cool evenings, a chill in the air,
An end to the heat, it’s a festive affair.

I pray that those evenings aren’t too far away.
I’m relieved the long summer is not here to stay.
I long for the showers, the gentle cool breeze
To stir through the branches, the leaves on the trees,

Long walks in the mornings to start off the day,
Watching squirrels and rabbits that scurry away.
Every season is different each one is unique,
Each has its own message they whisper yet speak.

We too have our seasons, we’re somewhat the same.
We notice the passages, call them by name.
