What all do I miss with my eyes straight ahead?
What would I see if I took time instead
To look all around me, find someone in need,
Touch others with kindness, a word, or a deed?
If I take time to listen a heart will convey
The needs deep inside more than words they might say.
Perhaps they need someone in whom to confide,
Something they’ve carried too long deep inside.
I pray I take time, that I listen and hear
What matters to others, the things they hold dear.
I pray I’m a person that others call friend,
And one on whom others can always depend.
Lord help me to focus on others not me.
Help me to listen, discern, and to see.
