Finding Joy

September 14, 2022

If I climbed every mountain, or learned how to fly,
Yet knew not the one who created the sky,
I’d keep looking and searching to find the next thrill,
Hoping to find it just over the hill.

There’s always an ad for a new thing to try,
Offering something if only we’ll buy,
Perhaps it is happiness, beauty, or fame.
In the end we find out that we’re still just the same.

No human philosophy mankind provides
Can fulfill the longing for God that’s inside.
Lord help me to see that I only need You.
In You I find rest, not in things that I do.

There’s joy in the person of Jesus my King.
Lord You give me peace, with Your joy I can sing.
