There is sound all around me not meant for the ear.
If I let my heart listen, there’s so much to hear.
If I dare to be open to what I might find,
It’s then I discover a love that is kind.
In order to listen and hear with my heart
Developing patience is where I must start.
A dose of humility, once it is found,
Will help my heart listen, attuned to the sound.
As I learn how to listen, to love, and to care,
Hope will endure when the world seems unfair.
If I patiently listen, the truth will be heard.
Inside of my soul I’ll absorb every word.
It’s not what the world has to offer to me,
But rather God’s truth that will set my heart free.
