Why is it called a cup of Joe,
This morning coffee that I drink?
It came about so long ago,
No one’s for sure just what they think.
Some say Joe’s short for Java bean
Throw in some Mocha, form jamoke.
On this idea some aren’t too keen,
Think Joe refers to common folks.
The term is old, before my time
But what I do remember still,
A cup of coffee for a dime,
Good conversation, free refills.
Although those days have long since passed,
Fond memories will always last.
