Find someone who’s lonely, in need of a friend.
Ignored and forgotten it’s easy to hide.
An invisible curtain begins to descend,
With no one to listen, just sadness inside.
If someone seems different and not like the rest,
It’s easy to turn and pretend they’re not there.
Someone hurting in silence won’t likely protest,
Just continue assuming there’s no one to care.
Perhaps it’s some tragedy early in life,
That began a long journey of feeling alone.
If their shell is too thick to cut through with a knife,
Don’t assume that inside is a heart made of stone.
Lord open my heart help me see through Your eyes,
Help me to hear those who silently cry.
