Morning Dew

August 8, 2022

The year I turned seventy I learned that rhyme
Is a pass time I love, good investment of time.
It helps me to capture the thoughts that pass through.
Sometimes they linger and settle like dew.

I ponder each morning, put thoughts on the page.
I think about life, how it mellows with age.
I journey through mem’ries, those days I was young,
How many more songs I have left to be sung?

I’m grateful for mornings to ponder and write,
When dawn is approaching, it soon will be light.
The morning will break and soon burn off the haze,
It takes a bit longer in life at this phase.

I’m grateful for memories, they still inspire,
Like old friends and laughter, the warmth of a fire.
