You may know I love words that are metered and rhymed,
Even better a story with wisdom entwined,
A story well written that touches the soul,
A story that lingers long after it’s told.
Some stories for children read after we’re grown
Will offer new insights that we’d never known.
The stories from childhood not read for a while
Can bring back some mem’ries that make our hearts smile.
As parents or grands when we take time to read,
To share with the children, we help them succeed.
Reading a story so others can hear
Is a pastime that’s fading with each passing year.
It’s a worthwhile endeavor I pray will not end.
To share a good book is to make a new friend.
