Finding Wisdom

July 20, 2022

The beginning of wisdom is found in God’s word,
Then allowing my heart to accept what I’ve heard.
His words are still true and won’t lead me astray,
If I have the faith to just trust and obey.

When I’m headstrong and stubborn and focused on me,
Ignoring God’s wisdom, I no longer see.
When I seek the Lord’s guidance it’s then that I’m wise.
He will answer my plea and He’ll open my eyes.

I don’t understand why I’m so often prone
To think I’m in charge and can live on my own.
Why resist what is good and will profit my soul,
Go off on a tangent, think I’m in control?

I need the Lord’s guidance to live every day.
If I ask, He will hear me and show me the way.

Your poem was timely reminding me to always start my day with the Lord not with a hurried prayer but a quiet meditation and talk with our God. Your poems are truly God sent. Thank you John and God bless.

I love this poem. It’s so true and a reminder to focus on God’s truth no matter what is going on around us every day. It fit perfectly with another devotional I read today. I hear Gods voice as He brings truth to me from His word.
    Thanks again John
