Days of Spring

April 22, 2022

The winds for days blew loud and strong,
And after darkness all night long.
But morning breaks with calm and still.
A hint of gentle breeze I feel.

The scent of flowers in the air,
A fragrance that they gladly share.
There on the branch a small cocoon,
A butterfly emerging soon.

These cherished moments, tastes of spring,
Sweet echoes from the past they bring.
My younger self spread on the grass
Observing clouds to watch them pass.

The days of leisure as a child,
Remembering still brings a smile.

Your message today brought back a memory of a time, long, long ago…my last day in 4th grade. My dad let me bring the family’s Brownie camera to school…to take pictures of friends/teachers, etc…for memories. Instead, I had “looked up” and saw how beautifully blue the sky was, with puffy cotton clouds, and the sun shining through the tall trees growing on the school grounds. I laid on the ground, aimed the camera up, and took several pictures of that beauty (of course, in black and white)… instead of pix of friends and teachers, etc, as my dad expected. When the pix were developed the black and white result did not capture the beautiful blue of the sky, the fluffiness of the clouds, etc. and he questioned me. Oh, that today’s kids would LOOK UP and see God as I did that day, instead of looking at phones and filth, and not appreciating the Lord and the worth of people, along with the beauty of the world He has created around them.

Brings back memories of hours in the backyard laying on the grass with my neighborhood friend, visiting, laughing, watching the clouds. I would read a book and she would read her comics. Thanks John!
