Where is the hug, the warm embrace,
The kiss placed softly on my face?
Is social distance here to stay?
It sends a message, “Stay away.”
Reach out to hold or shake a hand,
Says “I am here, I understand.”
There’s healing in the human touch,
Conveying love we need so much.
I pray as we begin to heal
We still express the way we feel,
Once more use touch to show we care,
A warm embrace or hug to share.
I pray when others gather near
There’ll be no wall or veil of fear.
