I didn’t hear the angels sing,
Or see the star that led three kings,
But on that night so long ago,
The shepherds saw the sky aglow.
On that extraordinary night
Those chosen shepherds saw the light.
They gathered ‘round, beheld the Son.
They worshipped Him, the Holy One.
Selected they would be the first,
Bear witness to the holy birth.
The manger scene with shepherds, sheep,
Traditions to this day we keep.
The shepherds help us all to see
God sent His Son for you and me.
