Those Who Remain

September 20, 2021

God formed us all and gave us breath,
Made in His image yet unique,
Live earthly days until our death.
Beyond the grave we cannot peek.

Our days we spend upon the earth,
Each one ordained, each time and place.
We each have gifts bestowed at birth.
We all comprise the human race.

Instead of using gifts for good,
Discovering how best to live,
Our talents seldom understood,
There’s so much more that we could give.

I long to see the hate recede,
See wickedness begin to fade,
See love abound and good succeed,
Yet evil lurks, seeks to invade.

I’m sensing that the end is near.
Abruptly we’ll be snatched away.
Those who remain and linger here
Will get their wish, no one to pray.
