Leave It

January 16, 2020

Yesterday came with a breeze,
The patio all strewn with leaves.

Miss Lucy learned a brand-new phrase.
She’ll now hear “leave it” many days.

She found that leaves were fun to chase,
But in her mouth, a bitter taste.

We all could use this new command,
This “leave it” phrase, throughout the land.

Sometimes it seems we’re back in school,
Still need to learn the golden rule.

It matters what we do or say
Whenever we’re at work or play.

I pray we leave the hate behind,
It’s not too late to train our mind.

The bitter taste invades our soul.
Restore us Lord and make us whole.
