Melody and Lyrics

March 24, 2024

Do words written down with a rhythm and rhyme
Mature into music if given the time?
Will a melody form as the words touch the heart?
Or is there a melody, separate, apart,

In search of a poem to marry someday?
If they’re meant for each other, they’ll both find a way,
Become one as a song and together be sung
As beautiful music by old and by young.

Some rhymes remain single, prefer to just wait.
If they’re meant to be sung, they just leave it to fate.
Sometimes it’s a rhyme that is meant to be read,
A poem, no music, just lyrics instead.

For now, I’ll continue with lyrics in words.
Alone without music they still can be heard.
If they meet the right melody, meant to be song,
They’ll know they were destined to wed all along.
