Throw open the shutters, let light in my soul.
May the creatures of darkness let loose of their hold.
May Your goodness and mercy take over my heart,
Provide me discernment, Your wisdom impart.
Let Your Word shine within me, enlighten my mind,
Provide me the insight to share what I find.
Lord give me the courage to write what I see,
Not looking at others but starting with me.
Lord clean out the clutter that blocks out the light,
Help me let in the sunshine, it’s no longer night.
Lord drive out the darkness and fill me with song,
A song of Your love that makes right every wrong.
Help me write verses that take flight and soar,
Enriched and enlightened, share words that restore.
