Christmas Memories

December 21, 2021

Aromas of cinnamon cider with clove
Emerge from the kettle kept hot on the stove.
The holly and mistletoe, bells on the door,
Stuffed bears and the carolers stand on the floor.

The sights and the smells that bring Christmas to mind,
Those memories linger so fragrant, so kind.
Each year those traditions and visions return,
Residing within me, still there to discern.

Though I find myself grayer and life’s a bit slow,
I still enjoy Christmas with candles that glow.
The manger displayed on the mantle with love,
Reminders that Jesus came down from above.

I pray that your memories bring you great joy,
Like those that I started as just a small boy.
