The season, the carols, nostalgia and lore
Built up through the Christmases decades and more,
Those images, memories, swim in my head,
The stories I’ve lived and the ones I have read.
It’s easy to let expectations take hold,
Decorations and lights and the stories of old.
It’s not about tinsel or fashion or trends,
The time I love most is with family and friends.
The love and the friendship we find here on earth,
Reflections of glory, a virgin gave birth.
We celebrate Christmas, the birth of a child,
Born in a manger, so meek and so mild.
May we be a reflection at Christmas this year,
As we reach out to friends, to the ones we hold dear,
May the meaning of Christmas abide in our heart,
Stay with us this Christmas and never depart.
