Remembering

March 20, 2024

A poem stirs memories deep in the soul.
It touches the hearts of the young and the old.
The rhyme and the rhythm, a sweet melody,
The words paint a story, a vision to see.

They help bring to mind an old scene from the past
Obscured from the present as shadows were cast.
Those memories, those treasures from long, long ago,
How they shine and they sparkle in light as they glow.

The memories of loved ones and friends we once knew,
The number has dwindled, we still have a few.
Hang on to the memories and don’t let them fade.
Treasure those loved ones and friends you have made.

Don’t miss opportunities, make a new friend.
It takes only a smile and a hand to extend.

Finding Joy

March 18, 2024

I cannot determine what next life will bring,
But I can choose this moment to let my heart sing.
My life’s made of yesterdays I cannot change.
Time moves one direction, I can’t rearrange.

I pray that I learn from those days of my past,
Learning the value of things that will last.
Find joy in the moments so precious and dear.
May peace and contentment drive out any fear.

God holds the future and He’s in control.
He’s walking beside me as each day unfolds.
I trust Him to guide me and each day I pray,
That I follow His leading to show me the way.

Lord You are the way and truth and the light.
You’re still in control through the darkest of nights.

Clear Water

March 17, 2024

I’m blessed every morning to read in God’s Word.
I pray my heart listens; God’s message is heard.
I pray for new vistas that I need to see.
I pray that God’s blessings are flowing through me.

God’s Word is clear water that quenches our thirst,
A spring in the midst of a drought at its worst.
Surrounded by chaos, when good is called bad,
Confusion is raging, the world has gone mad.

I’m only one voice, Lord, but willing to share
The love that’s inside me, make others aware
Of Your love and compassion, just ask and believe.
You provide living water for us to receive.

May those hungry and thirsty in spirit today,
Come eat at Your table and not turn away.

Sharing Words

March 16, 2024

You can see I love writing, it’s something I do,
Writing, creating, each day something new.
It’s a gift I’ve been given to use in some way.
I love to share words that I use to convey

The blessings from God that I find in my heart,
Expressions of love that I try to impart.
I love to write stories for children in rhyme,
Regardless of age or the passage of time.

I love to share poetry, read it aloud,
A message that’s humble, not haughty, or proud.
Words from the heart that are simple and true,
The meaning straight forward, not hard to construe.

I pray for the people one day who will read,
That by writing and sharing I’m meeting a need.

Grief Journey

March 15, 2024

In times when You call those we love to come home,
We’re left here without them, to spend time alone.
Lord help those now hurting to heal and to cope,
Strengthen their faith and restore them to hope.

Give them the courage they need to be strong,
Through the days and the nights that seem endlessly long.
Surround them with friends who give comfort and love.
May Your Spirit bring joy on the wings of a dove.

Lord wrap them in love on their journey through grief,
For as long as it takes to find peace and relief.
Gather tears in a bottle from deep in their soul,
Those tears shed in sorrow to cleanse and be whole.

May their sorrow dissolve as they’re wrapped in Your love,
Until they’re together with You up above.

Shared Sounds

March 13, 2024

Homonyms share sounds, sometimes share the same spell,
Their meaning’s quite different, the context will tell.
Now homophones sound the same, don’t be confused
As to the meaning, which spelling to use.

Homographs, meanwhile, are both spelled the same,
But differ in meaning, confusion’s to blame.
To bear is to carry fresh honey in jars,
But encounter a bear, you won’t get very far.

So be careful when writing, use their, they’re, or there.
It makes quite a difference, be sure you’re aware.
If you’re changing a color, be sure to use dye.
Choose the wrong letter, instead you may die.

Knowing homonyms, homophones, homographs too,
Help you pick the right word when you choose between two.

Cherish and Share

March 12, 2024

I pray that my heart’s never callous or cold,
That my heart can stay young though my body grows old.
May my heartstrings keep sharing words cherished and dear,
May I always keep listening, God’s Spirit draws near.

Lord help my heart thrive on the words that You share.
Through your Spirit reveal them so I am aware.
Help me to hear as I read, and I pray.
Provide me the manna I need for today.

I need Your Word daily to grow and to learn,
Your Spirit inside me to help me discern.
I read through Your scriptures, still fresh and alive,
A welcomed oasis I need to survive.

Lord help me to share as I’m penning each rhyme
In the still of the morn, cherished moments in time.

Through the Night

March 10, 2024

Lord fill me with courage, compassion with strength,
No matter the weight of the trial or length.
You are the answer, the truth that I seek,
Though my body, my soul, even mind become weak.

You provide strength through the darkness of night.
You’re the dawn in the morning, the sunshine, and light.
The warmth of Your love I can feel in each ray.
In You I find hope and the strength for today.

Lord fill me with joy in the midst of the storm.
You’re my blanket of love that I need to stay warm.
No matter the pathway, how rough the terrain,
You’re always beside me in sunshine and rain.

Lord, You are the strength that I need to endure.
I know You are with me, of that, I am sure.

Speak Out

March 9, 2024

Speak out, let your voices be heard.
Share wisdom from God’s written word.
May the people in darkness find light,
As the dawn puts an end to the night.

May the love in your heart find a way
To be shared through the words that you say.
May the weary and hopeless be fed
Living water and life-giving bread.

It is time for God’s people to share,
Let the world know the Lord’s love and care.
Show others the pathway to peace,
And a joy that will last, never cease.

Shine your candle that others may see
The light of the Lord and be free.

Refreshing Water

March 7, 2024

Lord fill my glass, my heart today,
Cool water, Lord, to start my day,
Refreshing words I need to hear,
The words of life so fresh and clear.

I pray my thirsty soul will drink,
Allow my mind to ponder, think,
Absorb the truths the words convey,
Inside my heart find words to say.

Then help me Lord to write and share,
Find loving ways to show I care.
I pray that as I form each phase,
May they be clear, no fog or haze.

Lord may Your water overflow,
Help seeds to sprout, and flowers grow.
