Quiet Time Rhymes

August 11, 2023

When I seek the Lord’s guidance in things that I do,
When I ask Him to show me and make the path clear,
When I’m still and I listen and then follow through,
I can find true contentment, proceed without fear.

When I’m walking in tune with the Lord in His will,
I find a new energy growing inside,
The feeling of reaching the top of a hill,
Or seeing the ocean so vast and so wide.

The journey’s not easy, the road is not straight.
Sometimes there’s an obstacle blocking the way.
Sometimes I need patience to pause and to wait,
Spend time with the Father, just trust Him and pray.

Lord guide and direct me to follow Your lead,
Help me to listen, to hear and to heed.

August 6, 2023

Each one of us at times will cry,
Sometimes real tears, sometimes inside.
We need a friend who stays nearby,
A friend in whom we can confide.

We all need friends with whom we share,
Who care about the things we feel,
Who listen well, are true and fair.
It’s easy to relax, be real.

We share our heart, we share our mind,
We share our life as it unfolds.
With someone caring, loving, kind
We open up and bare our soul.

When all alone we still can pray.
The Lord will hear the words we say

So many thoughts that swirl inside,
Which should I capture, put to rhyme?
Emotions rise and ebb like tide
From lowly depths to heights sublime,

Sometimes too deep to form with words,
Not something I can grasp or hold,
Not like a song that I have heard,
And yet more beautiful than gold.

Perhaps when silence fills the air,
The mind’s set free to contemplate,
To rise above the earthly cares
Alone with God to listen, wait,

To patiently sit silent, still,
Read words revealed so long ago,
And seek to His guidance, perfect will,
I’ll see the things I need to know.

Lord give me sight that I may see
The depth of love You have for me.

August 2, 2023

I cannot earn the grace of God,
Just humbly bow, receive.
I cannot walk where others trod,
But pray that they believe.

It’s God who looks and sees within,
That job’s not up to me.
God’s Son came down, died for my sin,
And now my soul’s set free.

I praise the Lord, His love and grace
With all my heart and soul.
One day I’ll see Him face to face,
The One who made me whole.

There’s more to life than time on earth,
Set free beyond the grave.
I’ll know in full my second birth,
Praise God I’m free, I’m saved.

I praise You Lord, God’s only Son.
You gave Your life, the battle’s won.

September 1, 2023

So hard to lose someone we know,
To loose our grip and let them go.
We know the Lord is in control,
Our heart still breaks, so sad our soul.

They say that time will ease the pain,
Yet tears still flow and cheeks still stain.
Perhaps in weeks and months to come,
As aching hearts are mending some,

There will be found more sunny days,
Perhaps adapt to this new phase.
I pray for comfort, love, and hope,
Time to adjust to learn to cope.

It’s hard to lose the ones we love
When they go home to God above.

I start this day dear Lord in prayer.
I pray for all in need of hope,
For all who suffer in despair.
I pray for strength that they may cope.

I pray for those now deep in grief,
Lord help them know Your rest, Your peace.
I pray in You they find relief,
Your love, oh Lord, will never cease.

May they reach out, find hope brand new.
Lord touch their hearts, may hope arise,
A hope that’s only found in You,
To soar like eagles through the skies.

I pray this simple heart felt prayer
Helps others know Your love, Your care.

(Inspired by Isaiah 26:3-4)

The page is blank it’s mine to fill.
I pause to probe, to read, to write.
The gentle breeze, the quiet still,
A quiet time when all is right.

However brief that time may be
To pause, reflect, reach in my heart,
Lord rest my soul and set it free.
Each day I have a brand-new start.

I trust in You, my solid rock.
You still my soul and bring me peace.
Your door is open, never locked,
Eternal love will never cease.

I keep my mind, my thoughts on You,
You bring me peace the whole day through.

To the One who created the one I call me,
Who formed the whole universe, all that I see,
I’m humbled You formed me and made me unique.
It’s Your love and affection that daily I seek.

I’m amazed that in all of the centuries past,
Once I was formed and the die had been cast,
There has never, nor will be, another the same.
You knew me and shaped me before I was named.

I pray that I find all the treasures inside.
They were given to use not to hoard or to hide.
I pray I use well in my time on this earth
The gifts and the talents You gave me at birth.

I’ll never know fully the depths of your love
Until I am with You in heaven above.
