Quiet Time Rhymes

During times when we’re down and it’s hard to survive,
It’s hard to imagine we’ll once again thrive.
Even the valley grows flowers in spring,
Even in hard times our hearts can still sing.

It’s not just the mountain tops covered with snow,
It’s also in valleys we learn, and we grow.
Find meadows and flowers just under the hill,
Take time to enjoy them, sit quiet and still.

Give thanks in the moments so peaceful, serene,
Surrounded by nature a beautiful scene.
Even in times when confined to a room,
Imagine the flowers so lush in full bloom.

May visions of beauty still live in our mind.
May the Lord bring us peace when our life seems unkind.

We all scatter seeds as we go on our way,
The things that we do and the words that we say.
I pray that the seeds that I scatter around
Will take root and grow should they someday be found.

I pray they lead others to read and discern
The things that through life I’ve been privy to learn.
Perhaps if the words float around, they will find
Someone who’s willing to open their mind,

Someone who’s willing to open their heart,
Someone who’s hurting who needs a new start.
I don’t know the circumstance, timing, or place,
But I pray you find God, know His beauty and grace.

I pray that the words that I’m weaving each day
Help others know Jesus, the truth and the way.

The God who put the stars in place
Throughout the vast expanse of space
Still cares about each one of us
Who live and die, return to dust.

This slice of time we have on earth
Begins the moment of our birth.
Each day a gift from God above,
Embrace each day endowed with love.

One day we’ll see Him face to face,
And know the warmth of His embrace.
But until then find joy each day
No matter what may come our way.

Embrace each day, don’t mourn the past,
We never know which day’s our last.

There is nothing like shade on a hot summer day,
A soft gentle breeze through the leaves as they sway,
A strong sturdy trunk as I sit for a while,
Its limbs reaching upward, I sigh, and I smile.

The trunk has my back as it holds me upright,
A welcomed relief what a beautiful sight,
A comfort when weary in need of a rest,
After struggles and trials that seem like a test.

When I become weary the Lord sends a friend,
Someone beside me until I can mend,
Someone to smile, share a story or two,
Some of them humorous some of them true.

Praise God for the friendships I have in my life.
With the help of my friends, I can get through the strife.

Why do I worry or struggle or dread,
Forget that the Master controls what’s ahead?
Regardless of troubles that this day may bring,
The Lord gives me comfort, my heart can still sing.

Life’s not about treasures of silver or gold,
Nor even the things I can touch or can hold,
But rather my faith and the power of love.
It lives in my heart, and it’s sent from above.

Lord, You give me strength and in You I can trust.
Without You I’m nothing, just liquid and dust.
You give me purpose, Lord lead me today,
I’m ready to follow, Lord show me the way.

Give me the words Lord that You’d have me write,
That I may help others see Your holy light.

How can I influence others for good?
What would I say if I thought that I could?
Write a book for the children, inspire them to read.
Write poems to share and perhaps meet a need.

I’d write about life, about things that I see,
Share about love that God placed inside me.
I’d open my life to let others inside,
Shine light in the darkness so nothing can hide.

I’d find places to share so that others can hear,
“The Lord is my shepherd. There’s no need to fear.”
Lord lead me to places where you’d have me share,
To people in need of Your love and Your care.

I am Your servant, Lord help me to write
The words to point others to You and Your light.

The memories, some left in rhyme,
I pray survive the test of time.
Perhaps someday should someone read,
I pray they help to meet a need.

If words I write can point the way,
The simple truth, just trust and pray,
I’ll know my work has been worthwhile.
I’m satisfied, my heart can smile.

When I am gone don’t mourn for me.
I’m with the Lord, I’ve been set free.
No treasure that is here on earth
Will go with me, it has no worth.

The words I leave I pray proclaim,
“I love the Lord and lift His name.”

God is God and who am I
To think that I should know the why?
My time spent here began at birth,
My tiny span of days on earth.

The God who put the stars in place
Beyond the bounds of time and space
Reached down to breathe the life in me.
Lord help my heart and soul to see.

It’s hard for me to comprehend,
Creator yet companion, friend.
I come to You each day and pray.
You know my heart, hear what I say.

Each day I live is in Your hand
It’s not for me to understand.

If my hopes and my dreams are a gift from above,
Born of God’s Spirit and wrapped in His love,
I pray that I’m faithful pursuing His will,
Take time to listen, sit quiet and still.

Lord I pray for contentment, not my will but Yours,
You know the future and what’s come before.
Help me not make assumptions of how life should be.
You’re in control and life’s not about me.

Lord help me discern what You have to convey.
Lord fill me with strength that I need for today.
You are the Lord and it’s my place to serve.
There’s nothing on earth that I’ve earned or deserve.

I don’t know the future, what each day will bring.
Lord fill me with peace that my heart can still sing.
