Words can be passionate, strong and sincere,
Persuasively spoken and easy to hear,
But under the surface the motives are wrong.
It’s more about power, exciting a throng.
Beware of an eloquent passionate speech
That tries to entice you, persuade you, beseech.
Examine the motives, the spirit, the heart.
Understand what you’re doing before you take part.
Be wise as a serpent and take time to pray.
Examine the scriptures and see what they say.
Seek Godly counsel from friends who are wise.
Words spoken convincingly still can be lies.
I pray for wise leaders whose motives are pure,
Who love God and country to help us endure.
