I’m taking some time to just rest and refresh,
A time to reflect, to take stock and to pray.
An occasional rhyme I still weave as words mesh,
But nothing I’m driven to do every day.
Perhaps it’s the summer, the heat of the sun
That compels me to rest, to relax for a while,
Let go of the worry, find laughter and fun,
Let the peace and the joy overflow into smile.
I’m sure once again that the pace will increase,
But rest is important, to slow down the pace.
My heart is still beating, my writing won’t cease,
There’s no need to rush, I’m not running a race.
Although I may rest, even pause if I’m tired,
I pray that my writing stays fresh and inspired.
I like thoughts in this poem . I think I will apply them to myself.

We all need a rest, and it is the wise person who knows when that should be,
and how long it should be! Asking the Lord to guide you as to when that would be.
