It’s in between heartbeats, the ebb and the flow,
When my heart takes a pause that I’m truly at rest.
In life I need times when I’m not on the go.
It’s times when I’m still that are sometimes the best.
As my body grows older that time in between
I cling to more tightly, a much-valued prize.
A time to find treasures that cannot be seen,
To search with my heart and not just with my eyes.
I value some solitude, time to reflect,
Quiet stillness of morning each day to begin.
I find it refreshing and seldom neglect
The silence, the stillness, my trusted old friends.
I jot down my thoughts and I form them to share.
“May they help someone’s journey,” is always my prayer.
