Simple Roots
I’m blessed with simple small-town roots
Where folks dressed up in jeans and boots.
No need back then for key or lock,
No need to rush, or check the clock,
Not too concerned with fame or wealth,
Just gratitude for food and health.
The days back then have changed somehow.
Those days gone by seem distant now.
Those roots ran deep and helped me grow.
Those memories from long ago
Still firmly lodged inside my heart,
Forever there, and won’t depart,
That firm foundation based on love
From parents, friends, and God above.
