God’s Gifts

April 13, 2023

We’re each given gifts that the Lord has endowed,
Talents, abilities God has infused.
Why should a gift make us haughty or proud,
Or think that our gifts are too small to be used?

If we offer our talents, the ones we receive,
To honor the Lord and to Him give the praise,
Use them for God, He’s the one we will please,
We’ll know the Lord’s blessings through all of our days.

Never think of a talent as big or as small.
Each talent is different each one is unique.
We each have a place and God uses us all.
God forms the chain, and he makes every link.

Use your God given talents no matter how few.
Use the gifts and abilities God placed in you.

Growing Old

April 12, 2023

Dear Lord, I pray for friends this day,
A generation growing old.
We trust in You to lead the way.
Our winter’s come, we feel the cold.

Our balance not as steady now.
Our minds at times obscured by cloud.
The years leave wrinkles on the brow.
Our voices now are not as loud.

Inside these bodies weak and frail
The spirit and the soul are strong.
We know the Lord. He will prevail.
We’ll be with Him where we belong.

Draw near to those now old and gray.
Find wisdom, hear the words they say.

Show and Tell

April 11, 2023

It doesn’t really cost a cent.
It only takes a word or two
To offer some encouragement.
If genuine and also true,

Perhaps if shared you’ll meet a need.
Sometimes it’s hard to ascertain
The impact of a word or deed.
Just keep it simple, loving, plain.

Let someone know when they’ve done well.
Lift others up with words you share.
Not only use your words to tell,
Find ways to also show you care.

I pray that what I do and say
Will lift someone in need today.

Tranquility

April 10, 2023

It seems that not so long ago
I longed for some tranquility,
My frantic pace to ease and slow,
Find inner peace inside of me.

My pace has slowed, I’ve had some time,
More time to read and to reflect.
I’ve jotted down my thoughts in rhyme.
Now quiet time I don’t neglect.

It’s not some mystic in a trance.
It’s not a special chant or phrase.
It’s not a ritual or dance.
Just turn to God, give Him my praise.

The Lord gave up His life and died
But rose again that I might live.
The Lord’s my source of peace inside,
That peace that only God can give.

Lord, You’re my source of peace and joy.
You’ve been my strength since just a boy.

Risen

April 9, 2023

I know I’m not perfect. I let people down.
I must seek the Lord daily and ask Him to fill
My heart with His love. I remember His crown,
The cross where He suffered and died on that hill.

We celebrate Easter, remember the cross.
He gave up His life, but He rose again too.
He paid for our sins, we will not suffer loss.
We walk in His light and each day is brand new.

For all my transgressions the debt has been paid.
Past, present, and future they’re not mine to bear.
He carried them all, on His head they were laid.
He buried my sins, they were taken away.

I give thanks to the Lord, He has risen, I’m free.
One day I’ll be with Him, His face I will see.

Trust

April 5, 2023

Each morning as I read Your Word,
And try to capture what I’ve heard,
I pray Your Word becomes more real,
More solid than the way I feel.

Inside of me are ups and downs.
Sometimes I laugh, at times I frown.
Lord help me know and understand,
You hold me firmly in Your hand.

Your love is strong, Your Word is true,
No matter what I’m going through.
When I call out You hear my prayer.
I treasure Lord Your love and care.

Lord help me trust in You each day.
You are the truth, the life, the way.

God Knows

April 4, 2023

The God who made heaven, the earth, and the sky
Knows of my needs, He’s the One who provides.
He knows of my future, the when, where, and why,
Lord help me to follow, to trust as You guide.

I don’t need to worry, Lord you’re in control.
I’ve no need to rush, try to make my own way.
There’s nothing on earth that’s worth losing my soul.
For Your love and Your blessings I’m grateful each day.

Lord help me learn how to patiently wait,
And give me the wisdom to know where to walk,
To follow Your leading, not early nor late.
Lord grant me discernment whenever I talk.

I pray I convey as I write every word,
The peace and the joy that in You I have found.
I pray as I speak that Your message is heard.
I pray I share love with those gathered around.

Lord help me speak clearly that others may hear,
Know You’re in control and there’s no need to fear.

You Rose and Reign

April 2, 2023

In this still, quiet hush of morn
May Your Word speak, Your voice be heard.
The cross You bore, the crown of thorns,
So many Lord reject Your Word.

If I can help in some small way,
If I can help someone to see,
Lord help me find the words to say
To spread the news, “You’ve set us free.”

You died. You rose. You reign on high.
The ones who witnessed You ascend
Recorded it, still some deny.
I trust by faith, on You depend.

You are the One, God’s only Son.
Through faith in You, life’s battle’s won.

Words Softly Spoken

March 27, 2023

It’s not my place to just spew words,
But rather touch what’s deep inside,
Reach other hearts when they are heard,
Pray sensitivity’s my guide.

If words I used were rough and crude,
I doubt they’d make it past the ear.
I see no reason to be rude.
Words kindly spoken, those we hear.

I pray that I treat others well,
That I choose wisely words I say,
And stories that I choose to tell
Will lift a heart and soul today.

Words spoken softly, gentle, kind,
Are words I seek and pray I find.

Love

From I Cor 13:4-7

March 26, 2023

Love is patient, love is kind,
No jealousy, not prone to boast,
No haughty pride or rudeness will you find.
“Seek my own way” is not what’s valued most.

Irritation’s not the way that love is shown.
Love’s memory will not record the wrongs.
Injustices love never will condone,
Finds joy when truth’s on top where it belongs.

Love finds hope and will endure,
No giving up, it’s not love’s way,
A faith in God that is secure
Throughout the storms when skies are gray.

I pray that love inside may grow.
Lord help me learn to let it show.
