A Humble Birth

December 5, 2022

I’m not sure what traditions at Christmas you hold,
Or if you have any at all you observe,
But I pray you know Jesus, whom prophets foretold,
Who gave us a gift we’ve not earned nor deserve.

Born in a manger, no room in the inn.
His mother, a virgin, a carpenter’s wife,
Gave birth to a Savior to die for our sins,
His mission, not easy, He gave up His life.

He gave up the glory of heaven above.
Grew up as a carpenter not as a king.
He spoke of His Father with mercy and love.
Now centuries later with songs we still sing

Of the humble surroundings the night He was born,
Just straw for His head, not a crown to adorn.

A perfect poem for Christmas time, no.
