In My Cocoon

June 9, 2022

An evening ‘round the campfire on a clear and starry night
The crackles of the burning wood the distant crickets’ song
Reflections from the years gone by when everything seemed right
Without the constant stream of news portraying worldly wrongs

Sometimes I need to get away and let my soul find peace
I still can travel in my mind to some far distant beach
A gentle stroll beside the lake the distant call of geese
No commentator’s diatribe with yet another speech

Sometimes when I need solitude I spin a small cocoon
I tease my mind and build a scene from places I know well
Perhaps to start a gentle breeze then add a distant loon
Then more detail with colors, sounds, perhaps a taste or smell

It’s not as good as being there but helps my soul find rest
Perhaps one day I’ll go again on yet another quest

    Perfect for us for today!
Leaving for Colorado and cooler temps.
