Remaining Days

July 10, 2021

Each person on earth leaves a mark,
That cannot be measured by size.
Some lives exude light, others dark.
Some learn from the past and grow wise.

Eventually years take their toll.
Our bodies grow weary and frail.
We learn that we’re not in control,
Can’t count the days left to unveil.

No treasures built up in a lifetime,
Vast fortunes of silver or gold,
Or even a penny or dime,
Can buy us more days when we’re old.

I pray with the days that remain,
I spend helping, not living in vain.
