A hospital lobby, a place I spend time,
Watching faces of people and spinning a rhyme.
My wife survived bypass, she’s now in rehab.
I wait and watch people, I’m not prone to gab.
I see on the faces so many concerns,
I pray without knowing and cannot discern
The details of stories of those waiting here,
But I pray for each person and ones they hold dear.
I pray they find peace for the time that they spend
Not knowing the future, the outcome, the end.
I pray they have someone with whom they can share,
Someone who models compassion and care.
I pray for the doctors and nurses who serve,
Give excellent care that their patients deserve.
I give thanks for the many we call volunteers
Who freely help others, they’ve seen many tears.
