March 8, 2021
It seems like a winter that’s lasted a year,
Staying huddled inside, missing friends we hold dear.
At times like a prisoner who’s locked up in jail,
We spend our time waiting and praying for bail,
Remembering days with the freedom to walk,
To sit down together to visit and talk.
So long we’ve been waiting and counting the days,
Until the sun rises to burn off the haze.
I pray for the signs of the coming of spring,
See trees sprouting leaves and hear songs the birds sing.
The fog that’s engulfed us will soon dissipate.
We’ll once again mingle with friends, I can’t wait.
We’ll soon have a party with doors open wide
To celebrate freedom with no need to hide.
We’ll bask in the sunshine that’s glowing so bright,
Emerge from the darkness and into the light.
