Passing Time

October 12, 2024

I shouldn’t write a rhyme today,
As I don’t have that much to say.
Perhaps jot down a few short lines
Just sipping coffee, passing time.

I took a walk before first light
Before the sunrise ends the night.
The acorns crunch, some sidewalks wet,
Not many neighbors stirring yet.

Another day that’s still brand new,
I cherish them, still have a few.
Cool mornings with a gentle breeze,
Sunlight kissing tops of trees,

A lovely morning crisp and clean,
A Norman Rockwell kind of scene.

Love the way you describe “first light”. Mornings are my favorite time of day, too, but you describe them so well. Betty

    Very lovely, John.

Those kind of mornings are sometimes the best. I’ve had such a lovely morning myself. I watched the sun rise in an already beautiful sky of interesting dark clouds. To have time and leisure to think thoughts, praise and ponder is a wonderful gift. Congratulations on 900 poems. We’ve been blessed by your thoughts put into words.

  4. You DO “paint” a lovely Norman Rockwell atmosphere here with your words. Happy 900 Day!

I love that. So warm and cozy. Thanks
