Focus My Thoughts

It’s easy to find all the wrong that’s around.
It’s on the news daily and easily found.
I pray I’m not jaded, persuaded each day
To look at the world in a cynical way.

If I focus my thoughts on the things that are true,
Then the clouds fade away and the sky turns to blue.
If I’m fixed on the lovely, what’s pure and what’s right,
Then the Lord brings me peace as I walk in His light.

I’m not one to ignore or pretend there’s no wrong,
But I must keep a balance, sing praise with a song.
The Lord gives me strength and the faith that I need
To follow Him daily, perhaps plant a seed.

I trust in the Lord as I lift up my prayer.
In Him I find peace and a love I can share.
