August 25, 2021
My vision had yellowed and dimmed as I’d aged,
Just gradually changing a little each year.
“Get cataract surgery. You’re at that stage.”
I mustered the courage to get past the fear.
I recall being told it would help me relax,
Then a voice in distance, “It’s time to arise.”
The left eye was done, the next week I was back.
It quickly was over, new sight in both eyes.
The sky that was gray is a beautiful blue,
My vision, once blurry, is clear and alive.
The colors, now vivid, take on a new hue,
Elated my vision, once dim, is revived.
I pray that my heart’s not diminished in sight.
I pray it sees clearly reflecting God’s light.
