Whenever there’s pressure, or turmoil, or stress,
I take a few moments to pause, decompress.
If inside I’m at peace I can be at my best,
Especially times when life seems like a test.
Preparing for battles I know life will bring,
Like batters or golfers must practice their swing,
When it’s time to perform with the game on the line,
The hours in practice to hone and refine,
Help me perform at the top of my game.
Preparing for life, while it’s not quite the same,
Improves if I practice and give it my all.
By helping up others who stumble and fall,
I pray I can help them have courage to walk.
Sometimes I just listen when they need to talk.
I pray some are touched by the words that I share,
I pray they find comfort and know that I care.
I pray that by sharing the rhymes that I write,
A lyrical rhythm to wish them good night,
I’ll help them to know the one true Prince of Peace,
The true source of living that never will cease.
