The little things that go awry
Too often bring a groan or sigh.
Looking back can bring regret,
That something small caused me to fret.
There must be something else inside.
What’s lurking there? Why does it hide?
Some little thing from long ago,
That’s taken root, allowed to grow?
Perhaps a wound that needs to heal
That I’ve ignored, no longer feel.
Perhaps a long-forgotten word,
A harsh remark that I once heard.
Lord do Your work inside of me,
Do what it takes to set me free.
Unchain me from what’s in the past.
Help me find joy in things that last.
