April 8, 2021
Some changes come gradually, spread over time,
Others hit instantly, turn on a dime.
Some I see coming with time to adapt.
Some leave me stunned, it’s as though I’ve been zapped.
So many emotions, too many to feel,
My mind shifts to neutral until I can heal.
I go through the motions of things I must do.
Overwhelmed by the feelings that soon will break through.
Regardless of how much I try to prepare,
What helps me the most is the time spent in prayer.
Some difficult passages I have endured.
There are more out ahead of me, that is for sure.
I know with assurance there’s one that remains.
That transition from this life of troubles and pains,
To life that’s eternal, a life without end,
To a place that’s prepared by my Savior and friend.
