Joy Cometh – A Trilogy

March 5-6, 2021

Psalm 30 verse 5 “… weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Yearning

I yearn for days when life was sweet,
When things worked out all nice and neat,

Those days a distant mem’ry now.
When did they fade, and where, and how?

Perhaps those days weren’t there at all,
But just a dream that I recall.

Perhaps a place just in my mind,
And not a place I left behind.

Is that a dream that I should hold,
A dream that’s now grown stale and cold?

Perhaps that dream’s not for this life
That’s full of trouble, toil and strife.

I know my life that’s yet to be
Will far exceed the dreams in me.

When Should I Write?

In moments when I feel despair
Should I pen words and should I share,

Or only times when I am up
Should I write words to share my cup?

Perhaps at times you’ve been there too,
A little down, depressed, or blue.

It seems to help when life is hard
To spend more time out in the yard,

To focus more on simple things,
Than all the troubles life can bring.

Sometimes it helps to take a walk,
Or spend the time to sit and talk.

Perhaps we can commiserate
And share this rhyme while we both wait.

I know that soon this too shall pass.
The Lord once more will fill my glass.

Restored

My glass was near empty but now it is full.
I can once again soar and spread wings like a gull.

The joy that’s inside me was just a dim light.
This morning it’s glowing and once again bright.

Lord thank you for clearing the clutter away,
To help me see clearly You’re with me each day.

You’re walking beside me. I’ll stumble, not fall.
When I’m lost in the forest You’re there when I call.

At times when I’m weary, when I’m off the trail
You’re still there beside me, to help me not fail.

I’m thankful for love that’s enduring and true,
For restoring the joy in my heart I once knew.

I pray that I cling to the joy You restore.
It’s treasure, not something to lose or ignore.

Lord help me see clearly and give me insight,
As I share with others Your love and Your light.
