Sometimes my mind is prone to drift
To find a breeze and catch a lift.
A cloud just floating in the sky
As thoughts take shape in my mind’s eye.
A mind set free just for a while
To close my eyes, sit back, and smile.
A time to float above regret,
Recall the good, lest I forget.
Remember scenes from yesteryear
I filed away and labeled ‘Dear’.
Those carefree days when I was young,
My song not written, not yet sung.
God blessed me with my lovely wife,
Still blessed to have her in my life.
Those early married days gone by,
When we were young, and fit, and spry.
My love has grown, we’re up in years,
We’ve shared our joys; we’ve shared our tears.
“Grow old together” was our goal,
We’ve almost made it, heart and soul.
Thank you. Yes, a great blessing.
Thank you. Yes, a great blessing.
A beautiful poem. You are blessed to get to grow old together!

Quite an endearing poem, John, especially on Mother’s Day. I like the audio versions you’ve been adding for your pieces, as well!
